Hedgie Slider Birthday Box

I've been on a search for some new inspiration lately. I love making cards, but I have been wanting to do something different. So I've been spending lots of time searching blogs and websites trying to find something different and fun. I stumbled across this project and couldn't wait to do it.  This project is called a sliderbox.
I got the template from Splitcoaststampers. At first I followed the directions explicitly, but when my finished project didn't turn out, I did some research and found someone in the comments that made some tweaks. I tweaked my project a bit, and it worked just fine.
I found that instead of using a strip Plastic Grocery Sack that a Satin Ribbon worked even better and was much easier to use adhesive with. I also found that making the slider card a little more narrower held the slider base in place. If none of this makes sense, read through the Splitcoaststampers tutorial, and it will.
So after I got my Sliderbox to work, I had the fun privilege to decorate it (My FAVORITE PART!!)
New Composition
The challenge over at Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog is "Paws for Thought." Since I LOVE Christy's images I figured I would use one for my box anyway. I thought about using one of her super cute Doggy images, but I recently lost my sweet, 3 year old, miniature dachshund - Fudge - due to a HORRIBLE accident while we were away from home for a week, and I am struggling very much still with it all so a Doggie was too painful at this point. I chose to do something different. I used a Hedgehog.

I thought the image called for some reds and pinks, So I thought the red an pink flower paper that I picked up from Michaels was a nice touch, and I even put a Hedgehog on the secret slider!

And Here's the whole thing slid out. The drawer is perfect to put some goodies or a gift card.

I hope you enjoyed my card because I sure enjoyed working on it!!! Oh, and another side note, I made a new watermark too. I thought I needed something with my website on it. Cute eh!?
